UCSB “Greeks 4 Kids” Doing Good Work for Youth
“Greeks 4 Kids”, comprised of UCSB Fraternity and Sorority members, magnanimously donated over $3,000 worth of much needed items to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara recently. They donated a sound system w/speakers, a printer, karaoke machine, an amazing sports score table for basketball games, boom box, DVD Player, lots of art supplies, balls, games, many books, school supplies and much more! Over 150 kids applauded with gratitude at the assembly where the young men from the fraternities delivered all the fabulous supplies.
This is an amazing example of the Greek system at UCSB working to help our community and making a difference for kids. “Greeks 4 Kids” was cofounded by Carl & Charles in 2013 and have made 8 donations to: West Side Children’s Center in LA, Children Hospital LA, Storytellers Children’s Center, Transition House, Isla Vista Youth Center, SB Cottage Children’s Hospital. They do various projects throughout the year to raise money to help many children in need.
Too often these fraternal groups in colleges get negative publicity, but this is an amazing, joyous example of what these young men and women choose to do with their time, effort and money. A huge thank you to “Greeks 4 Kids” at UCSB. You guys rock!

WestSide Children's Center Donation
June 17th, 2013
Value of Items Donated: $1003.55

At Westside Children’s Center, we provide thousands of at-risk children and their families with critical, high-quality early education programs, family strengthening interventions for families at-risk of losing their children, foster care and adoption services, and a range of vital, integrated services, such as disabilities screenings/advocacy, nutrition, parenting classes, counseling, bilingual domestic violence classes, dental and vision screenings, and pediatric health consultations. Our highly-trained and dedicated child development and child welfare experts ensure that each child receives the tailored supports that she and her family need to be prepared for success in school and beyond.
Our passion
At WCC, we are committed to breaking the cycles of intergenerational poverty, abuse, and neglect by creating a level playing field— providing children an environment that catalyzes their creativity and innate intelligence and teaching parents how to support their children’s physical, cognitive and social-emotional development, thus preparing them for a life of learning. Regardless of economics or family circumstances, we reinforce in children the tools they will need to succeed in life (curiosity, optimism, self-control, resilience, and perseverance).
